Online Presence 3

Coming to the end of our digital artefact we are beginning to rely heavily on the ideation process → constantly being in a feedback loop with our audiences as they either validate or give us constructive criticism in areas where we can improve in. We started off thinking that the content being posted could only come from ideas we thought of as a group or individually, but as we gained more followers and started to see audience engagement through the commenting section we found we were able to use their ideas as well. Now we follow this process religiously as we know this will lead towards a successful digital artefact.

As I mentioned in my blog post before → we hadn’t encountered any major problems but I would now say that we are really starting to struggle with gaining more followers as we haven’t seen a substantial growth for quite a few weeks. Because of this we messaged a handful of accounts which had a bigger following asking them essentially to give us a shout out in hope it will lead to more followers.

We added a highlight section to our page to make it easier for our followers to find recipes, quotes and our favourite meals we had cooked. As an incentive we made a competition where we asked our followers to tag us in their Instagram stories if they had made one of our meals for a chance to win cooking utensils.

If we get people posting this on their page they are essentially promoting us for free and it also brings a more diverse range of people to our page which we wouldn’t be able to reach as only our followers view our stories.

We wanted to start creating more content for our followers but we found setting up, filming and going to the grocery store to buy fresh products started to become a tedious process. We decided to brainstorm ideas to produce more content at a faster rate. We had just been using the video aspect of instagram but we also knew that it allowed us to post photos as well. We decided to screenshot recipes from online and post it for our followers along with our videos so instead of only posting one video a week we were now not only doing that but posting 4 other recipes we found online as well. Now we could stop worrying about our followers losing interest in our posts as we were now posting consistently.

What I have come to learn throughout this whole digital artefact is the importance of being in touch with your audience, seeing as they are the ones using the product it’s important that they our involved in the production stage. The production stage needs to be an ongoing process that is flexible and adaptable to change! This will result in a successful DA.

As I mentioned earlier before that we were struggling to gain followers was we could have teamed up with other students that had similar digital artefacts. I think we would have really benefited from this as it would have exposed us to new ideas and more creative ways to show our DA → we also would have gained more followers and I think the more followers = more opportunities to be exposed to new ideas which we may not have thought of.
