Welcome back! I’m re-activating my blog for another semester of bcm. Hoping to step up my writing skills and improve my time-management. I am eager to get started.
Little does everyone know I’m already writing this post a week late. Now let’s start catching up!! We are given a brief introduction to the subject and are asked to answer how global we are.
I would love to tell you that I have a rich cultural heritage, that I am half Australian and 1/4 Swedish and maybe have a touch of Italian in me but unfortunately I don’t. Okay okay I am not that boring though…I do have a little ethnicity in me. I was born in Auckland, New Zealand on December the 3rd to my beautiful parents. When I introduce myself to other people and they ask me where I’m from the first thing that comes to mind is “omg bro” and in their best kiwi accent can you say “fish and chips, please.” Too young, to have formed such a strong accent I am unable to provide them with a few giggles… We moved to Sydney, Australia when I was 18 months’ old so my parents could work and grow their family here. Now seeing their baby all grown up I have embarked on my own little journey. I made the move down to Wollongong so I could purse my studies as a coms and media student so I now call this little city home.
Although, my DNA isn’t as ‘global’ as I’d like it to be I still consider myself to be immersed in other cultures in a slightly different way. For example, the food, drinks and clothing I wear come from all over the world! My favourite pair of shoes are made in Italy and I am sucker for a chicken pad Thai after a long day at Uni. So I guess what I am saying is just because I am practically Australian doesn’t mean I’m still not immersed in the global culture. Its pretty cool to able to experience peoples culture without leaving the country.
I hope you liked this brief, description of myself and the potential ideas we will be discussing in class. I’m really excited to get back into my writing and learn about the next topics coming up.
